    Shopping for fat bike parts

    November 28, 2014, 12:08 PM

I'm looking to refresh my Pugsley a bit, if you have any of this stuff sitting around or have suggestions on where to get good deals please let me know.

80mm wide rims or wheel set for an offset frame/fork. I haven't decided if I'm keeping the Alfine hub (36 hole) in the rear or not so I'd be interested in a wheelset, or bare rims.

An aggressive snow tire, ideally a 120tpi Nate.

bb/crankset that's an upgrade to the hossefelt beast that came stock.

Basically I want to convert the old gal to something more like the Ops build. Alternatively, if someone wants to buy my bike I could head to the shop and pick up an Ops and be done :)

    I'm selling these rims here:

Maybe for a trade if you could make me up a custom framebag for my Beargrease?

i would have jumped on them but you over drilled them for my needs, my understanding is that they need a full set of holes on one side to be laced offset.

That's a bummer cause a frame bag is the final piece of my fat bike upgrade master-plan.

I'm sure someone somewhere makes 26mm diameter nipples.

Funny thing is, selling the Rolling Darryls and the Husker Du is my way of fundraising for a new frame bag. So it would have worked out perfectly for me, if it weren't for those pesky offset... what hubs? Old Pugsly with offset frame?

You should really just trade me for the rims and build a whole new bike based around them. Definitely the best option.

Aaron had an X9 fatty cranks not long ago. I emailed him to ask if he's still got it.

Otherwise older ISIS cranks work well for this...I got a Bontrager Race Lite that is a ton lighter than the stock Hussefelts.

RE Cranks, I acutally went with the Phil Wood BB, square taper. Then your crank options are endless, and you get the lowest possible q-factor possible on fat bike (with the right cranks I guess).
