Hey, anyone need a beater frame?

    January 26, 2015, 09:13 AM

I have a 19" Special Ed MTB frame I would let someone have if they could use it.

    • Cosmetically challenged, but not damaged
    • 26" disc wheel
    • ready for a Plane Jane 1 1/8 headset
    • aluminum
    • rack mounts
    • butt-ugly, and built to stay that way

it would make a nice beater/commuter/loner/bike for your kid to grow out of in half a season.  Keep it in the trunk of your car if your car is un reliable (I used to have a pinto station wagon that required a back up plan- a bike built on this frame would be GREAT for that)

I was going to build it for my nephew, but he zoomed right past it last winter (stupid hormones).  I don't need it. id rather someone have it and appreciate it, than have it collect dust in my pile of bike frames.

free to a good home.  or even a broken home. or if you live in a dumpster in back of a 7-11. or even a closet in an underground opium den.  no skin off my teeth.

    in box me.

I don't need the frame. But I sure appreciate your posts. The world needs more humor. Especially a little off-beat humor ;D

Happy to be of service Chuck.

Tip your waitress; I'm here all week.

Does it have some sort of fork with it?  I wanted to build up another single speedster to cruise around to the various brewpubs that I have been discovering lately.

Nope.  No fork.  But the price is right

I do, on the other hand, have an old Trek roadie that is in good enough shape for everyday use.  I was running 700X32 knobies on it.  You just need long reach road calipers.

I can let that go for fifty bucks (which is more than free) but it has two forks (original steel fork, and a low end carbon fork), possibly headsets, and a box of crap that may or may not have come off of it once upon a time (I haven't pawed through the box in a few years)

If any of that pile of mess interests you, let me know.

Is this frame still available? I have a friend who might want it. His MTB was stolen last fall and he's my only riding buddy :)

Yup.  Say the word and we can arrange a meet up.
