During tonight's Parks and Recreation Committee meeting the proposal for singletrack trails in Sheehan Park were voted down. However, we did get support from the committee who will help us look for other locations to build trails. Thanks for all of your efforts to make this happen.
I am sure all of you involved in this are disappointed. Some of you are disoriented. Some want to give up.
You have started a good thing. The dialog and realtionships made to date will pay off. The public is starting to understand. Stay positive. You have a seat at the table.
Politics can be an ugly process. But in the long-run you will get the result that is deserved.
These things take time. Learn the lessons to be gleaned from this and start preparing for the next opportunity.

So, on another note, we received word today that the city council still wants to vote on our proposal. With that in mind, we might still be in the running. More to come...
