Hey folk!
Have you seen the recent CORP News post? Madison is becoming super supportive of cyclocross this year (finally!)
While NorthEast Park is still our premier cyclocross practice area, Mad Parks is allowing us to introduce cross to beginners and noobs at various other parks this fall. This practice series is the result of several years of talks with Madison Parks, along with CORP’s responsible stewardship of the Cyclocross Practice Area at North East Park.
Please remember that all CX rides and events are weather dependent: is your tired are leaving ruts, don't ride. Please wait until things dry out!
Here are the practice details again:
Please share this out on your social media and forward to your friends, and friends with kids.
What: cyclocross basics and practice for beginners (kids and adults, ages 10 and up). The series is not cumulative, so you can come to any or all of the practice and fit right in.
When and where:
9/19 @ Olin Park (northwest end near Monona Bay)
9/26 @ Olbrich park (northwest corner at Lakeland Ave)
10/3 @ Marshal Park (south corner next to parking lot)
10/10 @ Garner Park (on the grassy hillside below the park pavilion)
10/24, @ Aldo Leopold Park
11/7 @ Heistand Park (on the grassy bowl)
11/14 @ Reindahl park (near the splash pad area)
When: 5:00pm start, lasting about 1-½ hours, daylight and weather permitting.
What to bring: a properly fitted helmet, normal riding attire, a cyclocross bike in good working order (a mountain bike, gravel, commuter, fat bike, or any bike with knobby tires is OK). We also recommend bringing your own (full) water bottle. Some of the parks do not have water on site.
There is no registration, but we ask that you RSVP to let us know which date(s) you might attend, so we can plan accordingly: rob.lewis@madcitydirt.com.
All of this is possible because folks like you have become members of CORP. A portion of your membership dollars helps cover these events as well as the mowing fee at NorthEast Park. Your support will help us to offer even more off-road opportunities throughout the City of Madison.
