It's finally happening.
Last year a new entrance route was approved by the Sun Prairie Park's Commission and then Covid hit.
Last weekend the trail crew cut the new route. Now we just need to run a couple of machines over it and then tamp it down. It is ridable now but it is ROUGH! We hope to have this finished by the end of the month.
The new route starts closer to the parking lot and joins the existing trails at the south-east corner. Note that this route is intended for both bikes and hikers. Be sure to share. And there will be benches added along this route in the near future. Also note that this new section is two-way where the rest of the mountain bike system is single direction.
The new route starts a few feet from the east bridge over the creek. It travels up the ridge and follows along the retaining pond. In the attached image, the new trailhead is at the blue X. The orange line is the new route and it joins the existing trails at the green X. The red X is the existing trailhead. You can start at either place.
